When Working Remotely…

Since the pandemic started, everyone had to adjust to having to record remotely and ensure background noise is reduced. A great way to do that is to pad the room with carpets, pillows and cushion to reduce the noise from the outside. Zoom's settings can be quite aggressive when taking out background noise because it can potentially block out your own voice and you ended up with glitchy recording sounds. You can manually adjust the Persistent and Intermittent Background Noise in the audio setting manually so as to not have it cut down aggressively.

Although another way, it is to manually record on a separate app to record the calls from each speaker. A little bit difficult but it does help with any cuts or glitches during remote recording. But you can also even leave it in! That way your podcast would have some interesting surprises

Fandub: Show Them You Can Make It Better!

Fandub is a fan made dubbing of a live action or animation, usually to another language. Fandub first started growing as a retaliation from fans who were not satisfied of the official dub. Mostly fandubs are there to see "if I were to voice the show back then, would it be better?" With platforms like Youtube, Fiverr, and even podcasts, fandubs are getting more popular as it is getting easier and easier to get your voice out there. So if you have cartoons from your childhood that you're not satisfied with the dubbing, just see for yourself if you can make it better!

International Trainings for Podcasters!

As podcasting becomes more mature in concept and a complex form of expression, you probably came to a point where you wish you can go back to school and learn about it more. But there's none in particular, so what do you do? Well for us, we found that there are many free or paid international opportunities for short online courses, bootcamps, trainings, or classes! Seminars or classes by other Indonesian experts are awesome too, but with international cohorts, you will get an unparralel experience sharing thoughts with other people around the world, and you'd be surprise with how much you can learn from them! Here are some of our favorite place to look: (1) Sundance Institute and Sundance Co//ab (US), (2) PRX (US), (3) One World Media (UK), and (4) Multitrack (UK).

Your Best Podcast May Have Already Be “Written”

Are you a writer? Do you have super interesting and informative articles or opinion pieces? Repurpose them and turn them into great podcast episodes! These pieces could turn out to be your best audio content and allow you to reach new audiences. Some people find reading the most effective way to absorb information while others find it easier to use podcasts as they can multitask.

You or a voice talent can read the article in a thoughtful manner and record it. To make it even more engaging, you can add relevant audio clips or subtle music to really give your listeners sound rich, informative podcast episodes. Upload the episodes to iTunes or Spotify and you have some great new podcast content!
